Happy Monday fellow ISES members!
It’s the Final Countdown to the 2010 Orlando WOW Awards! Today is the last day to register for this amazing event. As our tag line suggests, this is truly an event involving many organizations that make up one events community. I would like to thank ABC, HSMAI, ISES, MPI & NACE for their support for the 2010 show. It is truly appreciated. I am so proud of this year’s committee, sponsors and industry partners who have volunteered their time and effort to make this event a night to remember for the special events community. Just wait and see what we have for you to experience on Friday...
Don’t you want to see who will win the professional of the year in each Peer of the Year award category? Aren’t you anxious to cheer on your fellow professionals who are nominees for the prestigious WOW Awards? The opportunity to reward your peers for a job well done within our local community helps us build and grow as an industry in the Central Florida area. We look forward to celebrating and recognizing the best in the industry on Friday, September 10th at the 2010 Orlando WOW Awards at Hard Rock Live! We’ll see you there!

How many years have you been in the event industry? 12 years
What was your first position? Front Desk Receptionist for TCI Companies in New York
How did you get into this business? I was involved with special events from college and decided to make it a career. I got a job with Special Events company in New York with help of professor from UF.
What services do you and your company provide to the special events industry? We are a facility rental venue. Our clients choose the History Center to be the location for the event. We can do a variety of events ranging from weddings, to outdoor events, fundraisers, corporate events, filming and meetings.
What do you spend most of your day working on? Managerial duties such as budgets, meetings, logistics, contracts etc.
Why did you join ISES? I joined ISES to expand my knowledge about Event Industry beyond my realm of downtown. I also thought a great way to further develop vendor relationships.
What has been your most memorable ISES experience? So far, working on the 2010 WOW Awards. I like the focus of expanding this event to involve the other professional associations.
Is there a book, person, or story that has strongly impacted your career? Not really. I find that people I meet inspire me.
Do you have a career or industry tip you would like to share? This is something I follow: Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part. Helps me with working with fellow colleagues who are not event people
Tell us something personal about you: I am huge sports fan, love my GATORS. I play beach volleyball, flag football and kickboxing. I have one guilty pleasure and that is watching reality TV the Housewives series.
Anything else you would like to share with us? I think with anything in life you get what you put in.
Congratulations Amy! You are a huge asset to our organization and are grateful for your continued partnership! - ISES Orlando Board of Directors
Why "WOW"... Why Now?

The Orlando WOW Awards are fast approaching and I am sure some of you are wondering, Why “WOW”... Why Now?
The creation of the Orlando WOW Awards began in 2003 by a team of event professionals who shared a strong vision. The concept was to produce an awards show that would recognize the best in the local special events community. The show was so successful that it garnered top honors for “Best Team Effort” at the ISES Esprit Awards in 2004. After a six-year hiatus, the WOW Awards was resurrected with the hopes of re-creating the original magic.
Expectations were surpassed again as the sold-out show brought home another “Best Team Effort” ISES Esprit Award. The importance of the show is not only to showcase the incredible gifts and talents of our local events community in the show production itself, but to honor companies in various facets of the industry in the entry process. The WOW Awards continues to grow and build each year as the momentum and the brand continue to build.
Heather Pilcher, CSEP, ISES Orlando Immediate Past President and 2010 Producer of the Orlando WOW Awards says, “the Orlando WOW Awards is an important recognition program to the Central Florida event community in many ways. It creates an amazing vehicle for celebration and acknowledgment for our industry professionals across ABC, HSMAI, ISES, MPI and NACE and it exposes Central Florida’s many event industry accomplishments to the local community. Not only is this event a spectacular representation of the best in décor, lighting, food, beverage, marketing, and event creation, but I believe strongly that this collaboration between the associations in the Central Florida area truly makes us a unified events community.”
We invite the entire local special events community to come join us in this year’s amazing celebration - the 2010 Orlando WOW Awards, September 10th at Hard Rock Live, Orlando.
Make it a great week!

Letter from the President
Good morning everyone and Happy Monday!
The Orlando WOW Awards is quickly approaching and I invite everyone in the hospitality industry to participate in this fabulous event. This event is the culmination of the hospitality industry and is the only local event that rewards YOU, our members as industry professionals. The WOW Awards started in 2003 and was so successful that is won an ISES Esprit Award for Best Team Effort. Last year’s WOW Awards also won an ISES Esprit Award for Best Team Effort. The event is being held at Hard Rock Live! with many surprises taking place.
We have made parking a breeze utilizing shuttles and the Universal back business lot thus eliminating the extensive walk usually experienced from the parking garage to Hard Rock Live. There will be a VIP reception, an amazing dinner created by the Hard Rock Live Chef Russell, fresh entertainment, awards ceremony and yes, an After Party with Project DJ Slam.
Not only do you need to come out and support your peers, but the value is well worth the price of the ticket. Special thanks to our title sponsor- Hello Florida and Mark Wells for making this a very special evening. The true hard work and planning really need to be passed to our committee members and volunteers. Without their support, this event wouldn’t be possible- You’re all the best!
We will see you on Friday, September 10th for the 2010 Orlando WOW Awards at Hard Rock Live! Last year’s show was an incredible event and I know this year’s show will even be BETTER! Register now, seats are limited and no walk-ups accepted.
